Baez's hand injury appears to be nothing major, and he is listed day to day.

Excellent news! Probably just a minor sprain that'll go away after a couple of days. Kind of like jamming your finger when catching a basketball.

Brett Jackson may be close, one he cuts down on his K's, he may get the call - Theo.

Seems like everyone is laying claim to their various Rizzo nicknames on the internet. I better do the same to Rizzogasm...

Brett at BleacherNation has laid claim to that one...

Jackson with a K, Vitters with a 1B, Rizzo with a call-up!

Maybe someone should Tweet one of the various scouting gurus and ask why Brett Jackson strikes out so goddamned much.

Asked about Vitters, said he's doing good things in the minors. Based on body language, didn't seem like he's close at all. #Cubs

i really think Theo brass dont like him. They will want to deal him in some kind of package. Maybe Vitters + for Headley?

Depending on who the + is... I'd take that deal in a heartbeat if I were Epstein or Hoyer. Maybe they would like a couple of other pen arms to go with Cashner...

I would love Headley, but I am not certain if he really fits the timeline. If they were thinking about getting competitive quick it would be a solid move. I am just doubtful that is the plan.

Speaking of Jackson, really good (free) article on Baseball America about Jackson. Not a particularly uplifting piece (basically said Drew Stubbs with less power and speed at best). Baseball America | Blog | Baseball America Prospects Blog | Brett Jackson’s K-Troubles Continue

I can see how Stubbs comparison makes sense

He can still be a useful player even with a K rate that high, but the odds of him being above average go way down unless he can get the K rate way down in the big leagues.
