Also directly responsible for the second NJ goal?

You mean the one where the puck bounced on Keith and he couldn't clear it? How the hell was that the 4th line's fault?

You're really reaching, Pez.

Well the offense started clicking after Fatso got knocked out of the game. ...

"The offense started clicking..." ?!?!?!?!?!?!? What game were you watching?

This was one big bag of suck, and from the looks of things, it's not gonna get much better soon. Gonna be a long, disappointing season I'm afraid...

Let me know who was the center out on the ice when that happened, and where he was on that play. Puck support would have been nice. Obviously you've never had a puck in your skates before. Not exactly an easy task to find it and clear it with an opposing forward(or two)on you. That's where your fucking center should be coming in to help out, but, as usual, our forwards were lending ZERO puck support to the defense. Common theme this year. I'm done. That fourth line was a fucking abomination, and we won't win half our games playing with that horseshit lineup. If you can't see that, I'm not sure what to tell you.

I surely thought their confidence looked better than getting stoned by Brodeur no matter what they did.

Uptown baby!
The thing that concerns me with this team is not that they're losing but that they're losing so many games that were winnable and costly mistakes are the reason they lost, not good play by the opposition.

This. Really, I feel my raging frustration with the team so far is overwhelmingly born of the fact that they really can be better than their play shows (even as their overall record is certainly not hideous lumped in with the rest of the League) as they have imminently fixable problems. . .and yet. . .they keep NOT fixing them. Grrrrrrrrr. It's just hair-pulling right now but I have to have faith it WILL get better, lol.

You do realize the game happens much faster than they show on the replays, right? By the time anyone realized Keith needed help with what looked like it should have been an easy puck to clear, it was already in the back of the net. Pick your favorite forward... they likely wouldn't have been able to help Keith out either. The puck bounced. Shit happens.

Besides, we're talking about how you were wrong about their offense not how you think they should have had superhuman speed on defense.

Can I quote you on that "I'm done" part? Does that mean you're gonna jump the wagon and **** off to another sport?

Sharp exiting the zone well before a teammate gains possession.

How many goals did that line score? Hell, how many MINUTES did those fucking guys play? I'm done, because obviously some people can't look at things objectively here. Rah, rah, cheer on our Hawks! Bullshit. Hendry and Scott aren't on most NHL teams in this league, let alone playing as FORWARDS. If you don't see that as a problem, maybe you should **** off to another sport?

Here's some help for you, since you don't seem to be getting it. Hendry played 3:49 tonight. Scott played 3:19 tonight. Why even fucking dress these guys? They played less than 4 minutes each, and yet, still found a way to get scored on. Good job? Why not just divide those minutes up amongst the 10 REAL forwards on the team, and send them down to the AHL, if we're all about saving cap space?

Keith played nearly 30 minutes again tonight. Toews, Kane, Sharp, all with nearly 22 minutes of ice time. That is NOT NORMAL. Why is that happening? Well, because we have scrubs like Cullimore, Boynton, Hendry, Scott, etc., that AREN'T GOOD ENOUGH to play a regular NHL shift. So they **** up several times, get their ice time cut to nothing, and we overwork our big guns. All this after playing more games than any other team in the NHL last season and having a short off-season.

Awesome?

Sharp. Without a doubt. Replay was clear. 5 Jersey goals tonight...Sharp a -5.

OUCH!

Dang it's going to be another gloomy day around these parts by the posts in the chat and so far in the GDT. Might make my best effort to steer clear tomorrow, it WON'T be pretty.... especially after all those who went to the game get home.

The entire sequence was a result of forwards fucking up. Hendry failed to get the puck in deep, so only Pisani was able to go for a change. That entire line should have been changed if that puck gets in deep. Scott then failed to win the board battle in our zone, and the puck stayed in. Then Sharp blew the zone early, leaving Keith all alone in front. A microcosm of our forward's play this season.... and a big reason we are giving up so many shots and goals. Also a good demonstration as to why neither Hendry, nor Scott, should ever play forward again. But, they will.

Ouch is right. Sharp is on my BHP fantasy team.

In fairness to Sharp he was on the ice for the Campbell "assist" on the first Devils goal, the "please hug the post Marty" third Devils goal, and two empty netters.

Sharp still hasn't played his normal game in the defensive zone this year. He's been jumping the zone like that a lot, as have most of our forwards. Really the only guys hanging in there until we have solid possession are Toews, and Hossa. The rest of them need to go back and watch some film of last year's team, and our puck support in our zone. It's amazing that so many guys can forget why our team was as good as it was last year, but, they have. If I see Kane standing at the opposing blue line, flat footed, waiting for a pass, and turning the puck over, one more time, I might seriously lose it.

Yah what happened to putting bodies around Broduer? I didn't see that enough tonight to be honest I thought that was the key to beating the guy. Otherwise I thought the offense did what they had to do on the offensive end of the game. I thought they stunk on the defensive end. I also think the defense stunk to high heaven and made so many mistakes its not even worth trying to run to the toilet to throw up.

I also think the Devils did get a few lucky bounces. lol.

sooooooo anyone on this team going to step up and start playing the pest role or getting into the faces of the opposition. Not much emotion being showed out there if you ask me compared to previous seasons. Steeg/Ladd/Buff/Eager/Burish all had the abilty to get under the skin of the other team and showed some emotion out there (Buff maybe not so much in the reg season on showing emotion but he could be a pest). Think we are seeing just how important these cogs were last year and in previous seasons. And at least when they were not scoring they were contributing in other areas like being pests..hitting..jaring..yapping..etc etc. Not seeing it from any of the new faces and not much from those that remained. I'm going to say it..these guys look uninspired sometimes out there. I don't think I ever said that word about this team once last year or even the year before. No ones talking out there. You can see it and you can certainly feel it. It's lame. I know the cliche "let the play do the talking". Well the play isn't talking to well so far this year...so someone step up and show some emotion..better yet 2 or 3.

And don't give me the "Toews shows it every game" lecture. He's the team captain he should be. I am talking about someone else getting into it. The season has started guys.

Pez, are you even listening to yourself? I won't bother trying to tell you anything because clearly nothing is going to have any effect on your infallible doom and gloom. Have fun watching the Bulls. Sooner rather than later, please. kthnxbai

I almost always proofread before hitting submit, so, yeah, I guess I am listening to myself.

That said, you still didn't address any of the points made. We played with 10 forwards tonight, literally. We may have dressed 12 forwards, but for the minutes they played, they might as well have stayed in the locker room. Period. How you cannot see that as a problem, I don' t know. You are actually happy with us trotting out Hendry/Pisani/Scott as our fourth line? You can't be serious. You're happy with the minutes that our big guns are having to play, to make up for guys that, for all intents and purposes, shouldn't be in the NHL? And -I- should listen to myself? Ok then

Pez may be in complete overreaction mode right now but he does have a few good points esp on how the ice time is being used.

You do have to come down from the ledge a little though Pez lol. Welcome to the wonderfull world of the Cap and the wonderfull world of firing one of the best scouts this team has ever had while hiring egos to run the show.

Anyways valid points on the ice time stuff. And frankly I share some of the same opinions on watching the 3rd and 4th line on this club right now. Pretty unintereted when they hit their shifts to be honest. Gotta say they put me to sleep. See my above post about there not being enough character or emotion on those lines.

P.S. Wish this team had the ability to look at some trades. Some of these guys just don't strike me as guys that fit. Guess it's still early but how long is that excuse going to last? And I do know we need to get healthier. That's not always my fav excuse either.

I don't understand where I'm being doom and gloom, or standing on the ledge, to be honest. The team needs to play better, period. The roster needs to get better, period. We aren't winning shit with Scott and Hendry flanking Pisani on the fourth line. Will anyone actually argue against that?
<
Obviously things will improve once Hossa and Bolland come back, but, the guys that WON'T be in the pressbox when that happens, need to step up their play. Sharp, Kane, Toews, Kopecky, pretty much everyone that won the cup, is underperforming. Keith and Seabs start playing better, and our core forwards stop playing...
