I'd save about 18 thousand dollars if we didn't win the Cup this year. I might be happy and sad all at the same time.

But 16 games in should missing the playoffs even be a comment any intelligent hockey fan makes? Seriously? I'm at a loss......

Depends if we won or lost. Wait, we lost. Doom I tell ya. Doom!

I wonder if I can get a refund from the Hawks for un used Season Tickets?

Hey I'll admit to having the "Are we going to even make the playoffs" thoughts but like you said 16 games. I asked myself that under the logic nothing is going to change and well I doubt that'll happen. Something will change and the boys will get it going. My issue is last season we just killed everyone, just murdered teams on the scoreboard this year it is a LOT harder for us to score this season. That's where I get nervous is we have all these scorers and we really aint scoring as a team. Sharp and Hossa went the **** off and Kane and Toews had a couple good games but right now we aren't consistently lighting up the scoreboard.

I don't know whether I should laugh, pity, or just throw my laptop out the window and be done with it. 17 games in? really? I thought the season was 82 games long. I guess we should just stop playing now and start the playoffs... oh wait, that's right, the hawks would still make the playoffs if that were to happen. it's hardly a "tank for first overall" season. Hell, even Edmonton and NJ are not in that position right now.

I know, I know - but aren't you at least worried at this point they won't make the playoffs?

I'll have those thoughts when and if they are eliminated in March. Until then, ANYTHING can happen. Making the playoffs is not a question.

Hossa, Toews, Kane, Sharp, Keith, Seabrook, Campbell, Hjarlmarsson, Turco......... Will not miss the playoffs.

And...they're 8-8-1...and we dont have to discuss the turnover, but of the returning players, have been without Hossa, Campbell, Bolland for extened times.

And of the 8 losses...they've gotten their asses kicked to the extent of - 6gms by 1 goal (one in OT) - the other 3 ....Jersey by 2 (with 2en), STL by 2 (1 late goal), and EDM by 3.

Yes, they lost to EDM twice....but they beat VAN, LA, BUFF twice. STL has been one of the best teams this year, Hawks beat them too.

LOL, no.

I got to see a cup parade, we're into bonus territory right now. besides, if the hawks don't make it (WAY too early to call) then maybe my nucks will make it past the 2nd round

Class is always in session in the tea party thread.

Skille is doing fine. Give him time to actually get settled. Someone mentioned Brouwer, I still don't like Brouwer. When Brouwer and Skille were getting called up their rookie seasons I felt Skille out played the shit out of Brouwer but Brouwer ultimately got the call.

I've been on the Skille bandwagon since I seen him get called up that season. All I seen was a ton of speed and hustle. I like guys that hustle, you can have all the talent in the world but if you don't try it dont matter. See Zherdev or the Russian that played for LA last year, forget his nam (Marakov maybe, doesnt sound right though), or the Russian Olympic team. All talent no hustle.

I feel this way give Jack 2 seasons, by the 2nd season if he aint got it going he aint gonna get it going.

Easier said than done. His RFA is up after this season. An increase from 600K to _____ is the question, and that RFA deal will not be for 1 season. So, it's an issue of economics. Does it go 660k/726k/800k?

With the Seabs contract on the forefront, I see the organization looking to keep Stalberg-- and maybe even Brouwer before Jack. Then again, there will be 8 RFA deals to be worked out in the off season, some of which may be shipped.

That's a better way to describe how I feel - nervous. I bite my nails at games - I always have. I'm the nervous Nelly

it's a manditory 10% increase, so 660K

More or less-- compare it to the month of March last season.

Remember when the Jackets crapped all over the Hawks 8-3?

The Jackets beat the Hawks twice that month.

The hiccup is just at the front end this season. I'd also like to see a full compliment of healthy players.

I tend to agree but what if. What if the team never gets it going? Whose head rolls? Anyone? No one? Everyone?

On paper the team is still a WCF team but thus far in practice we aren't looking that great. Now we've played the most games in the league, there hasn't been a lot of time on the practice ice and it is a long season but this year is a lot different from last year. Last year we just whipped the shit out of everyone even when Hossa was out of the line up. This year I think we've had one game we just pounded Columbus into the ice.

Again long season still a lot of hockey to play.

Here's the "torrid" pace difference from last year to this...

After 17gms....

09-10 - 22pts - (10-5-2) (played game 17...day 40 into the season...only missing Hossa to this point)

10-11 - 17pts - (8-8-1) (played game 17......day 31 into the season..missed Hossa, Bolland, Campbell, Hjarlmarsson in there)

Goals for....(SAME!!!!!)

09-10 - 50

10-11 - 50

Goals Against...(6 goal difference)

09-10 - 41 (1 empty net goal)

10-11 - 50 (3 empty net goals)

Not that it matters.

God please don't let that happen someone from the Central Division needs to beat them. Though a Vancouver vs Atlanta SC finals would be great. Buff with his big ass in front of Luongo (you'd have to be an idiot to not make that roster move) and Ladd beating up Kesler some more.

Okay I approve of the Nucks going to the SC finals ONLY if they play the Thrashers, other than that no dice. Lose in the 2nd round to a central division team.

Oh, I understand the 10%, I'm, just asking people to be objective and fill in the blank on what they realistically think.

cool.gif

for a 4th liner rookie? i'm going to go with the league mandated minimum, unless he has a HUGE impact over the next 65 games.

I agree with that. Even the price structure I came up with was a 10% increase every year for 3 years.

Skille will have a job after this season. Whether it's with the Hawks is another debate.

Only problem with the above (pmxc's stats) is where was the rest of the Central at that same point? I'm too lazy to look but I'd have to think every other team is on pace to have an increase in points compared to last year.

We all know hiccups are easier to withstand later in the season when a team already has a pile of point to lean on. I'd rather not see the team entering January having to chase down 3-5 clubs.

Right now the Wings and Blues have been amazing out of the gate.

We can talk about how old Detroit is and how the Blues have middle-of-the-road young players-- that's moot.

They're winning. Additionally, the Blues have money to spend. Quite a bit.

Games in hand is concerning, since the "bottom dwellers" still have 4, and the upstart leaders have 4-5.
