The underlying problem with the Bulls is John Paxson and Gar Forman.

What? It doesn't have to be a kid but you would think if they are from there that would give them incentive to play there. Thats all I meant. My main reasoning is people don't want to walk in Jordan's shoes. I said I could be completely wrong. If I am wrong, then y'all have a lot more to worry about because your front office for the past 20 years has been shit.
Incentive to play there? When did the draft become a free for all where a player can choose what team and city he wins a championship in? Jordan wasn't a native Chicagoan, nor were Pippen, Grant, Kerr, etc.

Now if you are wondering why Chicago natives prefer signing with other teams, that may be an interesting discussion, but frankly given the choice between living in Chicagoland or South Beach, I'm going to pick South Beach every time. Now NYC, Houston, LA? It isn't as easy of a choice.

Thats exactly what I was talking about. Not the draft. I.E. Wade.

I think what it boils down to is money and winning. LeBron left his hometown to go win in Miami. Also, very few players give a hometown discount.

Most of this is pretty laughable. Everyone wants to complain about GarPax, but then when you suggest they do something you get ripped.....

Remember when Luol Deng couldn't have been traded?

How about trading Noah? You can't trade the heart and soul.

How about trading Gasol? Have you seen his shooting compared to other centers in the league?

We should trade Rose. ARE YOU FUCKING CRAZY?!??! DO YOU REALIZE HE'S FROM CHICAGO?!?!??! WHY IS IT HIS FAULT HE KEEPS GETTING INJURED!?!?!??!

Wash, rinse, repeat with Taj, and soon enough - if not already, Niko. The reluctance of some on to understand that you can't trade for talent without giving up talent, makes the whole GarPax cunting seem silly.

Probably because they all saw Pau Gasol get traded to the Lakers for Kwame Brown, Javaris Crittenton, Aaron McKie, the rights to Marc Gasol, and 2008 and 2010 first round draft picks and think the Bulls can do a trade like that. And yes, I'm aware Marc became much better and something, but in 2008 he was not.

Bottom line. In his history with the Bulls, Paxson has not made one trade that was significant let alone even one trade that put the Bulls over the top when they were on the cusp. They lucked out in a couple of drafts with some under the radar players like Butler, Gibson, Asik and Mirotic, and really lucked out when the magic balls resulted in Rose.

So, I say that Paxson is 0-13 and should be fired.

Not going to argue your last sentence, but the way you got there... When exactly where they on the "cusp" ? Since D. Rose has gotten injured, they have never been on the Cusp of anything. Gar Pax at least made them fun to watch, not like say, Philly or Orlando. If you lose your one an only superstar on the team (back then), don't much care who you are, what team you are, you aren't going to compete.. See the Thunder last year (though you could argue Westbrook is a superstar I guess). Is it time though? Did Gar/Pax not recognize Rose issues soon enough? Should they have recognized this sooner? Maybe it is time for a change from a fan perspective.

I think it's pretty obvious that garpax has done more good than bad for this franchise. You fire someone when the opposite is true or when they completely dropped the ball on a move that would make us a championship team. Neither one is true.

And the thing is, nobody that I've seen has argued that they are the greatest thing going on in Chicago. Would it be great to see them finally make that move? Absolutely, but I have always gotten the impression that the masses around here think a move for the sake of making a move is going to be a title tomorrow.

Yeah, that's a misconception. Look at Cleveland...they have one of the greatest players of all-time, made a couple trades last year, couldn't get it done in the finals and got completely dismantled last night by GS.

Now, I don't know what's out there in the way of trades and who is available...but looking around the league and taking an educated guess about value and availability, I really don't see any deals that propel us either now or in the future.

I think the window is shut on the current Chicago Bulls. Again, I don't believe in making deals just to do deals, but there are some pieces that can be moved from this team that can bring back draft picks that help for the future.

Gar/Pax need to go. I love my Bulls, but it is getting far too hard to watch these 2 screw up time and time again. And the Hoiberg hiring was the last straw. It's not his fault, so no blame on him.

there aren't any deals to be made that will "propel" us no. any trade made before the deadline IMO would be about clearing cap space and/or balancing out the roster(getting a wing player for a big)

If we could get a guy like Will Barton on this team it would do so many wonders.

TBH, I'd rather clear cap space than balance out the roster for this year. Unless we can get a Crowder type player or above. What I really like about Crowder is that at 25, he's signed at just under 7 million for the next 4 seasons. With the cap going up, he might become the biggest bargain contract in the league. Especially if he continues to get better. If we're really looking to clear cap space, guys like Niko/Taj/Snell would be the best candidate as Gasol is going to opt out anyways. That's another reason I really like a Niko/Snell/2nd rounders for Crowder deal. It gives us a young guy on the wing you can guard with a nice offensive game, that is locked up for a while. We trade Niko before we're forced to re-sign him for a pretty hefty contract, and we still have enough money to sign a 2nd tier-ish free agent in the off-season. The more I think about it, the more I see keep Gasol and let him walk, and look to trade Niko and Snell (and/or Taj). Preferably Niko though.

im with you on the cap clearing as well. and those are definitely the guys to try and move along with Gibson. gasol I would move it it brought us back a contract friendly player who was a wing player. like ive mentioned on here before, Id try to trade pau to Memphis for jeff green's expiring contract. that move balances out the roster and keeps the cap space freed up.

crowder would be interesting for the reasons you mentioned(age and contract). if the bulls feel he can develop some more then it would be worth exploring.

At this point, I would only trade Gasol for a 1st round pick, even if were a future 1st. Or a player like Crowder who has all the things mentioned previously (age/contract/production/potential).

I'd be shopping Niko/Snell/picks for a young wing player on a good deal. Those players are hard to come by though.
