I doubt there is any extra adding options out there that are limited because of them adding a slight bit of money this year. The this year part of that isn't very relevant in that case, if they do trade for a 3rd line winger perhaps. it may as well involve unloading Bickell anyway too which would chum up money

I guess then... at 85% salary... Could Erhoff be flipped to anyone else in part of a deal. I am hearing he sucks, but well.. how bad is he really? Would he have any value to a team at 85% salary?

I think its just about rostering a vet to sit at #7 in the press box instead of Svedberg who needs to play. We'll see what they do. Flipping him is the other option. Or Rockford. But I think this means Svedstein back down after the weekend.

Boy what a flurry of moves.....getting rid of dead weight non producers this year at bottom 2 lines.....

Id assume playoff lines would be

Laad-toews-hoss
Panarin-anisimov-kane
Shaw-teravainen-weise
Fleischman-kruger-desjardins

Panik rasmussen mashinter bickell (benched)

Pretty balanced and deep group

If we can get the Leafs to take Bickell, we might be able to resign some of these trades for next year, too.

Been away for a while but to say Erhoff for Scuds was a salary cap trade is kind of a joke. Scuderi was about as useless as it gets on this team, basically Cullimore 2.0. Erhoff on the other hand can handle the puck better and it wouldn't surprise me to see him fit in on this team well because of his two way ability. Obviously he's no longer in his prime, but he's an upgrade for us over Scuderi. Sutter on the other hand employs that slow, shot blocking, dump and chase, aggressive style that Scuderi would be okay with as a 7th Dman because he doesn't have to handle the puck as much.

I've never been a fan of trading away 1st round picks, especially for rental players, but it worked out well last season with Vermette and to get Ladd who will be a top 6 walking in is huge. There's also no way in hell Ladd plays in Chicago next season. While he's in his early 30s, he's going to look for that one last big contract.

Fleischman and Weise for Dandault and a 2018 2nd rounder is interesting and one that I think we gave too much for. Fleischman was a healthy scratch for a bit with the Habs, and Weise is decent depth scoring, but to give up Dandault who was coming along well I thought was odd.

The biggest thing with all these trades is we've brought in players who all are on expiring contracts, which means this will be a very busy off season with resigning RFAs, looking for bargain UFAs, and or trades.

So are they done yet, or does Stan have something else up his sleeve?

Trading two #8 dmen to free up cap space for next year is all about a salary cap trade. If you watched Ehrhoff this year, you would know that if he is playing for the Blackhawks that they could be in trouble. Sure he might be some depth down the stretch (just as Scuderi would have) but this is all about the salary cap here. Blackhawks would have made this exact trade for any Dman out there if the money was right and the other team was wiling.

Yeah...I still think this was about turning two #8's into two #7's, I prefer Svedstein any day, but not riding the pine. And Q loves his seasoned blue liners.

There's no reason why it can't be both. While they both may be No. 7/8 D-men, there is a vast difference in the style of play between Scuderi and Ehrhoff, and the latter's is far more likely to fit in with the Hawks style of play.

So are they done yet, or does Stan have something else up his sleeve?

Bowman told reporters this morning that he's "most likely" done trading.

The Coyotes just claimed Jiri Sekac off waivers from the Hawks, so all of that $925k is now off the Hawks' books.

Ehrhoff did not look good playing with LA this year. I get that Ehrhoff may look better in a Hawks uniform than Scuderi, but that isn't my point. My point is that this was all about the salary cap and it just happened to be that LA was the dance partner for this one that was willing to take Scuderi.

Also...Bowman said that nothing was happening last year and then he acquired Vermette/Kimmo - so I wouldn't put any stock into what a GM, coach, etc say at this point in the year.

The weirdest part of this Fleishman trade was that, for virtually this entire season, the Hawks have been playing Teuvo on the wing and mainly on the right side. Last game, they put him in at 3C and bumped Danault down to the 4th line. And after that one game, they decided Teuvo could be the 3C for this team through the postseason and that Danault was expendable because of that, when you add in that Kruger can return and handle the 4th line.

Now I still don't think TT has been given a good, honest look as an NHL center, yet I'm very intrigued to see if he and Fleishman connect on the third line. Fleishman does have some 20-goal season in his career, though not since 11-12.

It just seemed weird to move a guy into a center role and so quickly trade away the contingency plan if that doesn't work.

Personally I'm not a fan of the Danault + 2nd for Weise + Fleischmann deal. Now, I can easily become a fan if they help the Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup or if they are able to re-sign Weise at a cap friendly deal. However, I don't see that coming from Weise who is having a career year in the scoresheet. Have to imagine that Weise is going to want to cash in. Fleischmann has been having some issues mobility wise this year (atleast can't move like he used to when a 20+ goal scorer) and has been a healthy scratch a few times - he likely becomes a #12/13 guy for the Blackhawks. Bottom six got stronger but the Blackhawks got weaker up the middle.
