But it doesn't, since CBJ wouldn't trade with us anyway.

Why not? It's not like they are actually competing with us. They are only competing with their own constant ineptitude in the standings.

Maybe not this season, but they have to deal with us every year. There's no way they'll just take back picks for any of their players from within the division.

As far as Carter, offering support role roster players, we've already lost the deal.

Supposedly Dustin Brown and Luke Schenn are available and unfortunately their respective GM's are talking. If Stan wants in , he has to identify which one he wants and go all in. Kicking tires will accomplish nothing. If it Schenn I would think McNeil would have to be part of the package, since Burke lost Seguin to the B's in the Kessel trade.

Yea it's been suggested several places that Burke wants McNeil and was pissed the Hawks picked him in the draft and he lost out. I'm on the fence with that one.

Either Stan is all in or he comes up empty.

BTW Dustin Brown would take a lot of pressure off Toews and his contract is very reasonable.

Brown would not be a cheap addition at all. Not sure I'd like that.

Opinion aside, LA was scouting the Hawks yesterday, so it's possible both sides are already talking unless they were looking at the Stars players, which is also very possible.

Stan appears to GM like Lovie coaches...very timid.

Neither Schenn nor Brown will come cheap. But it is a mistake to overvalue prospects. Until a prospect in a bonafide NHL'er he is just a prospect.

All these ridiculous trade rumors and proposals with Frolik as a centerpiece are toal bullshit. Frolik is offensively challenged and a bad contract. He would be more easily moved in the offseason.

While True you don't usually trade prospects like Saad and or McNeil. The fact McNeil is highly sought after should tell something. Not to mention he's a Center.

IMO Other GMs are asking more from Stan than they are other GM's. Maybe it's just me but that's how it appears. I don't think you'll get squat for Frolik.

Very true on Frolik, you have to add him in as a freebee, if that matters in this leauge. As far as prospects, you gatta take a gamble. prospects come and go it all depends how bad you want to win. And in my opinion, as long as we make the playoffs and try to contend for the cup thats all I ask for. I am not all about trading all talent for a guy that we don't even know if he will gel with the team. I would rather wait and see our Saad's Perri's and Mcneil's come up and show case the talent.Do I want a good player come trade dead line, yes, but not for guys of this teams future. I don't think we need to much on D to make us very scary, just be smart about it. And I think Stan is just doing that. If its taking him this long then apperantly others are asking for the world, and Stan is refusing,That's why they are there and we are here.

Dustin Brown is intriguing but seems to be a long shot.

Both Schenn and Brown are longshots. I would not be surprised if Stan will settle for garbage like Souray.

As for McNeil , I realize he is coveted and a center but if he is a key piece to a Dustin Brown trade I think Stan has to deal him.

If Morrison and Souray are the playoff run additions the Hawks might fade and miss the playoffs completely.

I disagree, Brown is a 25-25 type of guy at this point in his career and will probably stay that way for a number of years. Plus hes a RW... so it's great that you'll give Bolland a nice RW to play with on the 3rd line but McNeill has more potential than that and could fit a huge need that we have at 2nd line C at some point in the near future.

Same goes for Schenn, he's a nice piece, but certainly not worth giving up McNeill.

We need center depth more than anything else.

I have to agree on McNeil. This team, even in the Cup year using Sharp, has lacked serious depth with it's top two Centers. Those type of players, IE Richards going to NY, are not easy to find via Trade, UFA, RFA unless you spend a boat load.

It's risky as this could finally give the Hawks Depth, with REAL Centers, playing their position, down the road.

Seems like we always need good LWs outside of sharp we don't have any big talent at that spot. Stalberg ain't good enough for me to say he's a big talent.

I think Hemksy is a LW but I would pass on him.

That's very true as well. But D is what's needed most right now isn't it?

So do you sell the future Center and or top six in Saad to get D or just limp along now using Rookies? Or become a creative GM and get some depth on D? Holland didn't seem to have a problem getting Quincy. Flyers didn't seem to have a problem getting Grossman.

Come on Stan show you know what the **** you are doing.

After our team keeps REPEATEDLY saying "We learned our lesson from that losing skid..." and the again goes out and makes the same farking mistakes over and over, I am not thinkning this group has the heart or the brains to win it all, so I am not sure sure we should not just hang on to our prospects and tell these individuals to start ACTING LIKE A TEAM! We sure as hell don't need a cancer like Souray futher stinking up our culture.
