Not trying to get into the console vs PC flame war but 99% of the time I prefer PC over console. The only genres I feel is better suited to console is sports games and racing games (unless you go hardcore racing on the PC with the steering wheel and pedals). But like shooters, I cannot fathom why shooters are popular on the consoles, the controls are fucking horrid for FPS. I still think they should put a thumb trackball into one of the analog spots for shooters and then consoles would work just fine but yeah the two analog sticks...**** that.
I just prefer PCs due to the controls, most of the time I'm more comfortable with the good ole wasd than dual analog sticks. And since I tend to play more strategy games they are not console friendly.
Also for one shot at the flamewar to ensue, consoles will never kill the PC game. Too many genres do so much better on the PC
and mass updating drivers isn't the ritual it used to be and for upgrades what I just did to mine will last me 5 plus years if I wanted it to. Sure at the end of those 5 years my graphics will be set to low but then I just drop a new vid card or two (I'm running two now) and blamo right back to where I want to be. If I want my CPU to go faster I just upgrade the cooling system in it and it is faster.
I don't have a OMGWTF powered rig but there is only 1 game that taxes the shit out of my PC and that is because the code doesn't utilize the graphic card very well and is very CPU intensive and that is DCS A-10C with is the king of nerd games.
