I thought ME3 was brilliant and the ending, while a little lame, never bothered me at all, although I didn't play it until the extended ending was released. The gameplay was ME perfected and the campaign captured the feeling of fighting a losing war against an inevitable foe. You would have these little tactical victories and still watch the Reapers inexorably spread across the galaxy. It felt genuinely hopeless. So many people ruined it for themselves with performative sweaty gamer outrage, as if they were ever going to deliver 150,000 separate endings based on every choice you made during the trilogy.
Yeah that was why I liked it too as it felt like reality. People wanted every decision to matter when in reality you can think you are making an important decision only to find out it didn't really matter at all. Thought they got enough of the big decisions right and quite frankly it was never about defeating the Reapers for me. It was more about the journey of the character's for me. The resolution of the Genophage with Wrex and Mordin and the Quarian/Geth war with Tali and Legion were damn near perfect for me. The Citadel DLC just made it all the more rewarding.
Marauder Shields is a beast too. Easy on the lower difficulties but literally took me like 2 hours to beat that asshole on Insanity.
