For the record, I dont think they should be doing this when the play the Wings....it's kind of "riling" everyone/everything up. But...it's hockey - so who knows. Maybe thats the point...and in some ingenius way, McD knows he's going to get booed/lit up...and it'll fire the crowd up or get some sort of buzz. Maybe circle the ambulance around the stadium a few times, turn the sirens on.....

I'm really indifferent to the whole honoring thing. I think the guy was pretty good as a Hawk, NHLer, Olympian, etc...a few claps, drop the puck....isnt a big deal to me if they did/didnt. Same with Olczky last year.

Hanging the jersey's or that "ring of honor" thing, is a different story though.

Classic, thanks for the giggle.

Stu, I think you are secretly a red wing lover. Probert = ex-wing. Grimson = ex-wing. Hmmmm

You forgot Sean Avery

Seabrook is not a complete ****** either. Just sayin.

And if you think winning the Norris a sole individual trophy your cracked. Keith doesn't win it last year without Seabrook as his partner. And if you doubt that I just suggest you ask him yourself the next time you see him.

Just as Chelios NEVER wins it without the team around him. So in a sense your Lesser TROPHY is somewhat a TEAM trophy as well.

I do understand why people like him. I'm pretty sure I will not cheer, nor will I boo. I will just patiently wait for the GAME to start.

Ah cheer his accomplishments and cheer the fact that he's the greatest american born defenseman

Best American born player? Could very well be.

However, I will not honor someone who betrayed the Indian head.

Here's an interesting link as people discuss who is the best American-born player.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_NHL_statistical_leaders_by_country#United_States

I saw Brian Leetch play live many times while living in CT. His burst of speed was like nothing I have ever seen. I saw Housley live but not until the end of his run. I would still put both of them above Chelly. Leetch was .85 points a game and Housley was .82. Chelly was down at .57/game, and not much better a D-man than those two IMO.

From this link though I do KNOW that IVAN BOULDIREV was the greatest Serbian ever! Grin.

Those ranking on based purely on stats. Dmen are much harder to measure by stats. I mean Modano is the highest scoring American born player in history and I respected Mike until he decided to play this season. When he came out in Minnesota in the North Stars jersey that was "I'm done this is my farewell" because he came back I hate the guy. I have no respect for the guy. Yes he's a HOFer without question, I do not deny his skill but after that **** HIM he is the new hockey Brett Favre.

Also here. The swedish list on that page. Mats Sundin #1, Nik Lidstrom #2. There is no way in hell Sundin is a better player than Nik. Nik is probably the best dman to ever grace the ice. He is a wing and I have the utmost respect for the guy.

Longevity wise, maybe, but give Orr twenty years and good knees and it's a whole new story.

At what point does the whole "disrespect the Indianhead" thing get blown out of proportion? At what point can we say "Hey, it's just a fucking game, chill out." ? Played his best years here, gave it everything he had to the franchise, whether you were a fan of his style or not is irrelevant when it comes to that. I don't know, just don't see the reason for a lot of the animosity.

Just my .02, but maybe it's because he was born and raised in Chicago, grew up rooting for the Blackhawks, became the captain of the Blackhawks, swore he'd never go play for "them," and did. There are extenuating circumstances and two sides to the story of course, but at face value it looks like Judas and his 30 pieces of silver.

He really spit on the Indianhead though. He made it clear for years how happy he was here, how he would never play for Detroit, etc. Then resigns with them over and over again, move his restaurant out there, and basically converts his entire loyalty from Chicago to Detroit. He made his bed - now he needs to stay there. He's a wing now.

Management HAS to know he's going to get booed... why would they even have a Cheli heritage night?

Oh, absolutely, you cannot compare forwards to "D" men, but Housley, Leetch and Chelli were all D-men.

Yeah...we are pretty badly off-topic, but the original statement we were on was best US-born. Yeah...for me Orr is the greatest ever because after playing all 6 positions, I believe "D" is the hardest position to play properly, by far. (IMO)

To me Chelios wearing that jersey for that photo was him making a statement." Look at me I'm a Redwing HeHe" I was indifferent to him leaving, but now to honor him is bit of a reach. He's a fucking Redwing. He works for them! I won't be surprised if he wears a Wings jersey tonite, the same one he'll wear in the HOF.

I don't think so - I bet they'll be surprised by the reaction tonight. They don't have a clue - just as they didn't have a clue at Wednesday's game by playing the Hawks goal chart with 0.5 seconds left in the game.

Dirty filthy ex Canuck dawning a Hawks jersey? **** me that is waaaay worse than anything Chelios ever said or done.

Was such a great start to the day today until this fucking signing. Boooooo Hawks!! BOOOOOOO!! I hate Ryan Johnson and I hate him in a Hawks jersey already. Even if he scored a hat trick tonight I would still hate his guts. **** you Bowman.

Win the fucking game and cheer me up.
