To be honest... even the league is going to look at this one and probably tell the refs for the next game it better be more even. Today was a bit... obvious.

Holy Niemi!!! What a game and way to stick it in the officials faces!!

Winning games like todays despite not getting 1 powerplay and the Sharks getting 5 is what stanley cup final bound teams are made of.

NHL should be ashamed of themselves for that blatant home ice officiating.

Niemi was unreal no doubt about it.

And I bet this officiating crew will be getting a call from Toronto post haste. They totally sucked.

Let's look at it from the opposite end as well... They must be really feeling the heat after having everything practically in their favor.

My cousin also has yet to talk with me after that game.

Observations --

  • * Niemi STOLE this game

    * Refs and Bettman suck hog weiner

    * Q got away with a good one having Steeg serve Bolly's penalty

    * Buff is the cat's meow

    * Hammer lived up to his name

    * Eager hit everything he could find

    * Toews, well what can you say...the ONLY Hawk who won more draws (13) than he lost (11)

    * Keith and Seabs are the bee's Knees

That is all....just keep it up. I'm happy if we take one of the first two at The Tank....and we now have.

Your cousin should be pissed at his team, not you. They had the refs on their side and still couldn't win.

Dammmm

We had Watson - Devorski today...

Call me sadistic if you want to, but I want McCreary calling our game 3+. I want the same two clowns calling game 2 in order to see that their mistakes will be corrected by Toronto for sure.

My favorite teams
  1. Chicago White Sox
  1. Chicago Fire
  1. Chicago Bears
  1. Chicago Blackhawks
I don't have a problem with the calls that were made. Just call it the same against the Sharks.

It's like they decided at the beginning of the game to call it very tight, and later on decided to let them play.

It was unfair to such a great game.

Hawks in five.

I doin't think San Jose changes their game plan for game 2 though. THey ran into a hot goalie today. Perhaps a few tweeks here and there but the Sharks looked good. Officials made them look good at times but still.

Just a good win for our boys today. They overcame a lot of stuff. Hell Nabakov looked good today also despite the goals he let in. This series has the makings of a long one.

Campbell had a really good game too. The Hawks have an unbelievable top 4.

NHL on the Fly also just gave props to Kane and Sharp defensively with 3 takeaways a piece in the game.

They certainly should have gotten some calls, but I didn't see more than 2 blatent non-calls on their end (the ridiculous high stick in the crease with no goalie interference to offset it was one), but we deserved just about all of our calls, so even with better officiating, we would have gotten more penalties then they did.

The Sharks got 5 power plays to zero, but what are Sharks fans bitching about right now? The fact that Bolland didn't serve his penalty at the end. They also aren't giving Niemi any credit right now.

We had all the physicality in that game. They brought nothing. Hammer with a crushing open ice hit, Eager with at least three. If Hossa puts that two on one away with 4 minutes left, its not even that exciting at the end.

I know, as a fan, you can be pissed your team didn't win, but for Sharks fans to not tip their hats to the performance put up by Niemi by consistently calling it "lucky" and saying stuff like "he's an average goalie" is just idiotic.

Look in the mirror Sharks fans. You should know what an average goalie looks like, you've got one between the pipes for every game.
I can't believe they screwed up on the Bolland call and put Versteeg in the box...lol. I bet it was all his yapping on the ice that worked out in the end for the hawks lol.

What a great game everything said, what action. This is what a western conference final should be.
I like your comments. Sometimes you need to win spite of not because of.

What a great opening game of the WCF series.

Certainly better then the opening game last season not to mention the 12 hour plus round trip car ride to see it.

After a sluggish start to the playoffs, Keith has 7 points to go with a +6 in his last 8 games. He and Seabrook have just gone into God Mode since Game 2 of the Vancouver series.

Sad.... Funny thing they're getting away with ALL the calls, yet they're not giving us any credit much less something as little like that? Do they want cheese with their whine?

Whether its Bolland or Steeg in the box, that never should have mattered. They had a 6 on 4 going on. They should have scored and taken advantage of the situation and they didn't. That's what it boils down to.

Why are they blaming us for their own problems? Nabby had a 5 hole wider than a pregnant woman after todays game. Blame him for giving up the 1st goal and respect Niemi for what he brought today, Sharks fans! ... Don't blame Bolland for not being in the box. A 6 on 4 is a 6 on 4. You have the best chance to score a goal and the Hawks D came to play as did Niemi. Credit should be where its due.

We beat both the Sharks and the zebras today, thats for sure.

I want to win the West and have Shark Fin Soup. Right now.

Reading their board is quite comical.

We deserved 3 or 4 of the 5 penalties but not once do ANY of them mention what they weren't called for.

Our forwards shy away from hits? Really? You should check who led the Hit in the game Moron!

Niemi was lucky, not good. Really? Shark fans are a dumb fucking bunch. Always have been and always will be.

Since when do Californians know about hockey?

Sad part is I have family and friends within that bunch. They're really disappointing me right now. They've never really been this douchey.

Well it's California... they were probably high and listening to Sublime while beating off to posters of surfers instead of paying attention to what was actually happening on the ice.

I was never that bad. I always focused on the game back out west.

As I've learned a couple years back: Destiny is heart, sacrifice and passion. The Hawks showed all that today. The Sharks fans were more focused on booing Campbell than anything else, and that can't distract you.

Personally, I am surprised they weren't bitchin about how the Hawks deserved more penalties.

Yep, Niemi was lucky alright. Hope he's that lucky the entire series.
