Optimistically, I'll say this for Caleb--while it sucked watching him get smacked around for 3 quarters--at least this far--he's a 4th quarter QB. I can't remember the bears ever having a QB who can turn it on like that and move the ball/get the offense to the endzone.

I won't even bother talking about how much I want one of the Bama IOL, or the C from Georgia, LSU's starting LT, or the starting C who was Caleb's former LT last 2 years from USC as far as draft prospects go so relax--idiots who don't think the OL is that important, because knowing Poles--he'll find another way to ignore then half-ass his OL again.

I don't know how long Braxton's knee injury will keep him out, but I'm okay if Kiran gets reps at LT further. Figure out what you have, or what you don't. He looked rough some snaps then looked like he belonged others, and for 1 game, coming off a major injury that ended his small-college career, he's worth a 2nd look.

If this year is it for Teven Jenkins in a bears, I'm okay with that--and until Bill Murray got banged up yesterday--I would have advocated for him to start the rest of the year. Teven's been wholly unimpressive, beaten, and often lost this year. Don't pay him.

Brisker and Gordon being out was a big difference, but Flus did nothing to make JD's life difficult. Yeah, a couple of plays 4 man pressure got home, a couple guys got hits and sacks, but this drives me crazy. Sometimes Flus can change up coverages and confuse a rookie, like Bryce Young a year ago. Then--sometimes, he does absolutely nothing and you get games like Jordan Love 2x last year. He knew JD's limitations, he knew Kliff K cuts JD's field in half and plays 1-2-3 level passing, and JD did it anyways and executed plays.

There is a lot of blame to go around from coaching to the players. But all year long Stevenson has been screwing up. He makes a good play now and then, but IMHO he wasnt worth the 2nd round pick, and certainly shouldnt be here next season.

Just my 2 cents

And for God sakes..Please get a LT!

Back to the OP. My biggest gripes:

General lack of preparation. Offense came out with no rhythm. Couldn't execute shit.

The OL still can't pick up 6-man pressures. This has been a problem ALL YEAR. Unacceptable.

No effort to force feed our best players the ball. Moore and Kmet were invisible today.

Waldron is bad at his job. The Kramer thing is obvious; but if he wants to do something different out of that formation, why not a hard play action pass or naked bootleg?

The hail Mary. No pressure. That 3 man rush might as well have been on the sidelines. Walker, Dexter and Martin. Are you kidding me with that group of rushers? Where's Sweat, Booker Taylor. Also, WTF was Edwards doing on that play--spying the QB?

Stealing this from CHGO, but there were no big guys down there for the coverage. Kmet should've been in, Rome should've been down there, Edmunds if he wasn't. He had all our backup DBs in there, who are sub 6'. Didn't even see Terrell Smith who's a bigger CB.

Eberflus keeps finding inexplicable ways to lose. He can't come back next season.

He also didn’t use his timeout. Saban, Belichick, Reid are insanely obsessed with the details of every play/formation and Flus gives 2 shits about details.

I was wondering how overrated Johnson is... but I'm sold now seeing all the random creativity he pulls out of his ass. Sign me up.
Which Johnson again, just to be clear?

Never mind, I remember his name now. Ben Johnson.

And I am tired of hearing Fire Flus for everything and anything including every penalty, every non scoring drive, anything and everything that goes wrong on any play. He was dealt a hand of eliminate every good player, and then you guys blame him for the record during the breakdown.

It is brutal on here as a result.

Good posters like yourself too.

In my mind, if you guys hate Flus so much, why does Poles get a pass. He is in charge of EVERYTHING.
Flus should've been fired last year. He's a terrible head coach. His coaching decisions have lost the bears 4 unlosable games over the last 2 years. Good grief, quit coping for him because he's a defense first guy

He still needs an offensive line.

He's just pissed because he made a dopey bet on one of these gambling sites and lost - it's pretty much every week.

He said he took Odunze for 80 yards and a TD.
Caleb will start to need being accurate on his deep balls for that to happen.

I called him black Trubisky the first three weeks, it was a joke obviously but his deep ball accuracy mirrors him so far. @greg23 did you have a nickname for Trubisky?

To my list of complaints... I can't believe this is what we saw today after two weeks of preparation. I'm pretty substantially shocked the offense was that pathetic all day.

I'll add, is it normal to not do too much football rolling into the bye? I thought it was odd on a Monday interview, they asked DJ about how much film he'd been watching of Washington and he basically did nothing at that point and it was Monday... the whole bye week advantage was thrown in the shitter. I'm assuming this was the case with much of the team.

Of course your O is going to look like shit if your QB is throwing more passes like this than on target. That isnt a preparation issue so much as it is a Caleb issue.

You can't get a QB and O in the flow if your QB is missing fairly easy throws needed to keep drives alive or sliding one yard short on 3rd and 2 instead of getting the first. Then there is the continued problem of him missing guys deep on several throws that a QB of his caliber should make.

The Bears didnt magically become more prepared the last 2 drives. Caleb just played better. This O looks good or bad based on whether Caleb is dialed in or not. Blaming the coaches is just Bears' fans coping mechanism to make excuses for the QB.

This is not to say the coaches dont **** up. This is to say Bears fans are overinflating the coaching issues to distract and make excuses for the fact Caleb shit the bed for most of the game. He is an inconsistent rookie right now. It is what it is.

And yes teams let players chill the first week of the bye. That first week is usually the coaches seeing if there are any adjustments that need to be made based on a more holistic review of the tape and a bit of extra prepararion for the next game. If there are certain revised goals they have for certain players then those players may get homework.

2nd week is more your normal gameplaning for the upcoming game.

Isn’t it in the CBA? I thought players couldn’t even come to the building then

Another play that should get heavy scrutiny is the 1st down play at the end of the final Bears touchdown drive. That stupid lob fade to the corner of the end zone in itself was a dumbass call on the one yard line, but what it did is stop the clock. If you fail on a run on first down at least the clock would keep running, would be nice if the run play didn’t get you in you could at least take another few seconds off the clock.

It really is hard to comprehend what goes on in the minds of these a holes at the 1 yard line, I don’t get it at all.

That was Caleb dude. Flus explained in his presser that was a run call but Caleb has the option to check to a fade. So Caleb made the decision to check to the fade.

Further if they had run instead and RJ scored then would be more time on the clock.

Then that was stupid on Caleb’s part. And as I said, if the run play did not succeed the first try the clock would have kept running. Dumb all around, whoever called the play.
