Yoennis Cespedes would be the next "big" free agent. So that would be my guess, though he could sign prior to Fielder since he ought to sign quickly after he becomes eligible. Edwin Jackson?

Boras seeking a 5 year-contract, so he won't sign for a WHILE!

Fielder was seen at a bar singing Go Cubs Go.

Damn, that is the awful sound I heard here in Milwaukee.

Except that we're in a win-win situation. We get Fielder or we get Rizzo or some other 1B prospect of the like. Either way, we win.I'd honestly like Rizzo a little more. He can put up Howard numbers with a plus glove at 1B. If we don't sign Fielder, then we get the young guy. If we do sign Fielder, great. It's really not as big of a deal as you want it to be for us.

True, but CO makes us dumber so that's not a positive.

I think the Jays will sign him, def if they can trade for Garzaq (I still think the Tigers are the favorite, though.)

They traded for Frasor to up their 'pen.

There's 2 WC teams and if they do acquire Garza/sign Fielder, there's a good chance they will get the final spot.

Angels/Rangers or Jays.

dude you couldnt even spell your name for the longest time. where do you get off trying to shit on people?

Real easy.

I want to read normal shit about a player. I dont want to scroll through post after post of theoisms, fantasy land type comments about boras being had by theo, prince taking a pay cut to play in chicago. its like the fans pulling out their cocks a few years ago when they heard "go cubs go" being sang by jake peavy. It is just flat out annoying that some fans cannot be realistic. If you think he is coming....great! but dont sit here and post that the reasons he will come are the things i posted about. sound fair?

i really just want you to finally be pulled in past that event horizon. may we never hear from you again.

1) Anthony Rizzo, 1B, Grade B+: Nobody should panic about 128 at-bats. Although he's not going to hit .300 in the majors, Rizzo should provide plenty of power and walks and I think he'll make the needed adjustments. Maximum outcome: Ryan Howard. Worst-case: Chris Davis.

It is certainly possible that Anthony Rizzo could put up Howard like numbers, but the idea that he can do it immediately or he is guaranateed to have the ability to put up Howard numbers is a stretch.

This whole back and forth started over one sentence at the end of your post. Your "answer" was to restate everything you had said that was perfectly clear. Then when I stated this your response was that I answered your question. All I wanted to know was what on earth this sentence means:

I should have put ^^^^^^ referring to what i was saying in the beginning of the post without repeating myself again.

exactly...i dont think the kid has the tools howard does..howard was an absolute monster in the minors(i think rizzo is a good defender though)

he's going to have some growing pains in the majors..he already has...he seems to play like he's a ryan howard though, lotta Ks and a low BA

Agreed. Just for clarification, I said can... not would lol. Howard is his ceiling, not his floor.

Agreed, he is going to have some growing pains, which is particularly why I like the move for the Cubs. This year would give him time to grow and as he becomes better the team would be better. When he would be starting to become good, so would the team.

Howard was also 21 when he first started playing pro ball compared to 17 for Rizzo. Rizzo put up a line in AAA at 21 that was very similar to Howard's age 24 season (split between AA-AAA). Their career's in the minors also put up pretty similar numbers (.299 career batting average to .296, .540 SLG to .516, .936 OPS to .880 OPS) and given the fact that Rizzo was doing that four years younger than Howard is pretty impressive.

meh fair enough

howard had better power numbers(in terms of HR and RBI)

i think rizzo is a bit more raw..ryan howard was older..and thats partly why he was more MLB ready

they have similar tendencies..but i think howard is definitely a ceiling here

Howard had more homeruns but he also played more games in the minors up to that point. There isn't much of gap in the amount of power these guys have statistically.

And RBI are as much a measure of who hits in front of you as it is of your abilities.

if you say so....again i think the difference is that rizzo is still more raw...i just dont see him as a guy who's going to hit 40 HR..and i doubt he'll get close in his first one or two seasons

true on rbis but it also shows your ability to hit when players are on base

Okay...that was a fun read

If you guys need to call each other dumbasses and shit, please move it to the flame thread.

As for the Fielder situation...I think it'd make sense for the Brewers to just sign Carlos Pena for cheaper and let the Nats (don't really care if legitimate or not) try to sign him. Cubs could use the draft pick and they don't have a desperate need for Fielder given the apparent direction of the franchise.

Trades also don't have to revolve around Anthony Rizzo. Probably should prepare for Bryan LaHair at 1B *shudder*

Which has nothing to do with power, as you had said.

Doubtful. Theo has a plan. Bryan LaHair isn't apart of the plan. At least in a starting sense.
