Cant have carbs bro. Whatchu talking bout?

I'm already on a low carb diet, thanks to Diabetes, not sure where you get the protien keeps you full longer. Horse piss on that. I noticed right away, and to today, when I eat right, i'm famished within an hour, hour and a half tops. My favorite meal is a 9 oz steak, salad with oil and vingar dressing and broccoli. Not a lot of carbs, no bread, no nothing... 2 hours later I could eat my leather seats.

It’s not protein that keeps you full longer, it’s fat that keeps you more satiated. Keto also limits proteins to a moderate amount around 20% of your total calories. This is done to prevent Gluconeogenesis, a process in which the body converts excess protein into glucose.

Wrapping up my first week of doing 16/8 IF. My diet has been very low carb which wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. I honestly look and feel great just after a week and my energy in the gym has been very solid. At the beginning of the week I was 175 and weighed 172 today, although this was before I ate anything that day. My target weight would be 165. Weekend will be a tough test for me as I enjoy drinking a little to much and my diet always goes to shit because I'm off schedule. What do you guys recommend for alcohol outside of beer?

What you say about those compound exercises and cardio on the elliptical or treadmills won’t get an argument from me. Think your dead on with that stuff. But still gonna blow your mind anyway by sharing my experience of when I lost the first 30 pounds in my first 5 weeks on Keto and IF. I wasn’t working out at all and it was as if the fat was just melting off at a rapid pace. Gave the appearance I was killing it in the gym but I wasn’t.

I can also add a different kind of experience my oldest daughter had. When she was 13 she looked at a picture of herself and said she was fat as **** and asked if she could go gluten free. She did that and she also goes to the gym religiously. Been over 4 years like that for her now and she has stayed in excellent shape through it all.

When you start talking about what food is good for you now, it’s hard to know what’s good for you and the way things are in this country you can pay a higher price for grass fed meat and still get the stuff from the feeding lots you’d get if you paid the cheaper price. Cage fee and range free mean 2 different things entirely too. But I think, in general, when people know they have to lose weight they also know they’ll have to avoid breads, cereals and pasta.

That's awesome. Both for you and your daughter. It's amazing how good and even muscular people look when they get rid of the fat. I remember when I was in my best shape, I was only benching like 185 and people would look at me like WTF, that's it?!? Pecs looked huge and shredded when I got a pump.

I'm trying to do the Keto diet myself. I've been on it before with great success, but now I can stay on it for 2 days if I'm lucky. No motivation

Two weeks in. Tracking all my food on my fitness pal. Making sure I am hitting Macros. Havent cheated. Made keto pizza twice, but highest net carb day I have had has been 30. Only"cheat" I have had is I did have diet coke twice but not much. I also drink a Powerade zero every now and then because my electrolytes get low.

I have only had one day where I felt pretty shitty and tired.

Also, using bcb salts. Its helps with cravings. My back is getting so much better where I can ramp up my exercise program. I been doing pretty light stuff not to re trigger anything.

Moving along.

FWIW, Keto is bullshit. It's just a calorie cut. It's not special.

Also, I F is bullshit. There's no different in the results between it and a normal calorie cut diet.

What you said might be true among a lot of people, but you also have to realize that a lot of people have terrible food and exercise habits and on top of that they are not honest with themselves, let alone other people that report their information too. People don't move nearly as much in the USA as a lot of other countries and it shows. You go to restaurants and the portion sizes are ginormous. You can get something at Cheesecake Factory called Miso Salmon which comes with rice and veggies. Most people think salmon is healthy. That meal is over 1,500 calories because of all the hidden calories. People are lazy to cook and go out to eat. Then they don't realize how much they eat. People eat veggies like broccoli but they fry them in oil. It can add several hundred calories.

There is actually a lot of good reports about IF. Yet, people keep getting more and more obese in this country. Why? Because they can't stick with their diets and workout regimens. They give up over time. It has to be a lifestyle for it to work.
The amount of studies out there where people don't know how to track calories or figure what they burned exercising is vast. Spartan is just being a knob.

Wrong, but you do you.

I love the "calorie in, calorie out" argument. It's always made by people who are so out of tune with their own body.

I'm not surprised at this know it all mentality, considering the poster.

I would gladly have that 1500 calorie meal just leave out that useless rice. My meals are usually in the range of 1000 to 1500 calories anyway but I only eat 2 a day. I skip breakfast, the least important meal of the day. Wouldn’t mind oil on my veggies either, as long as it’s not one of the overly processed cheap faked oils. All fats are not to be treated equal either. Keto users avoid vegetable, canola and the cheaper processed oils just as much as they avoid sugar.

Rather than point out what fat people do wrong and paint it all with a broad brush, I’d say the biggest problem is they’re given bad info. As with the Biggest loser contestants, nobody told them their metabolisms were going to be fucked up for years so they now had to eat about 500 calories less a day than the average person their size just to maintain that weight loss. Nobody explained to them the significance about keeping their insulin levels raised throughout the day with sugary food and drinks. They were just following the standard calories in/calories out nonsense.

I think most info constantly pumped out through the mainstream is bs and people would be better off figuring things out for themselves rather than listen to this or that cause it’s what all are being told to believe.
Oh wow, so you only eat 2-3k calories a day and work out...so umm you burn more calories than you take in and lose weight. Stunning. This is truly revolutionary.

Want the study citations?

And calorie in vs calorie out is base level science for weight loss. If you can disprove it you've disproved a core tenant of science in the known universe. So please cite your work and go get your Nobel Prize.

I'm out of touch with my body? I'm a competitive distance runner and have been for the last 16 years and have my own trainer and dietitian. I've maintained consistent training, power, and race season weights for the last decade. If you do I F or Keto, cool. But it's not magic. It's pretty basic. it's just different variations of a calorie cut. Spartan himself said he only east 2k-3k calories a day. Plus exercise. No shit he's losing weight.

My offseason calorie intake is roughly 1900-2000 calories a day(IIRC this offseason it's 1960 calories). I'm a lot more lift heavy this time of year so I'm not taking in more calories than I would during my more intense training periods when my running is a higher volume/intensity. I'll peak during the summer around 2800 calories a day, maybe 3400 on really intense tempo days but I'm also mixing in different macros etc based on what my body is needing to heal on a daily basis.

Intermittent fast with juice cleanses every 12-18 hours. Also, rub your stomach with essential oils and always keep weight loss crystals in your pockets.
