This is why the Dalton signing was moronic. Pace signed the same guy twice. Dalton didn't stop teams from thinking the Bears wanted a QB. Teams still tried to trade up for Fields. Same as with the Glennon signing, no one didn't do something based on the Bears hugely overpaying giraffe dung at QB.

Pace convinces no one but himself that Glennon, Foles, or Dalton are viable options as a QB1. Had Fields been snatched up at 4 by ATL, the Bears are staring at a hopeless season with a shit starter and a limited developmental QB in Trask or maybe Mond, at best.

No one would give a fuck whether you were starting Foles or Dalton, the results would have been similar.

Both are decent place holders for a starter missing 3-4 games, but neither is leading you on a playoff run at this stage in their career. Foles was an overpay, but would have served a purpose as a back up and mentor, why overpay twice.

And what's up with Pace guaranteeing shitty QB's that this is their year as QB1 with the Bears, only to draft their replacement a month later?
It's not like he needed to sweeten the pot, no one else was offering to pay these fools twice their value.

I'd like to hear an argument on how Dalton is better than Foles. I don't think you can make one objectively.

They both have nearly identical career regular season passer ratings, but Dalton and Foles couldn't be more polar opposite quarterbacks in the post-season. One is 0-4 with a rating of 57.8 (!) and the other is 4-2 with a rating of 98.8, including a Superbowl MVP.

If they are virtually on par with each other in the regular season, but one is vastly superior in the playoffs, and has proven it on the biggest stage, how can anyone honestly say the other guy is better? It doesn't make any sense.
I don’t need a long explanation here….I’ll take the guy (Dalton) who has consistently been a starting NFL QB and put up consistent numbers.

Ive said it about Foles before, and will say it again. He’s a horrible QB who got a lucky stint with the Eagles. He played on a very good Eagles team that a lot of back up QBs could have succeeded with.

Let me ask you this….How come Foles has never been a consistent starting QB in this league? Why has he never replicated his SB numbers since 2013? The way you talk him up, he should be a HOF player.

We watched Nick Foles last season. All the Philly stats aside, he has sucked balls everywhere else.

He has also never sustained that play for more than a short run of games.

In fact because of injury or incompetence he has never started 16 games in a season.

Dalton isn’t good. But Non Philly Foles is a bad.

Not even close to being reality this is really just some SAS type of craziness .

What good team has Foles played for ?

Chip Kelly's eagles he played well
Reid's Chiefs he played well in one start
Pederson's Eagles won a SB and playoff games in separate years

Those are the only good teams hes played for other than that hes played for teams who had bottom 5 offenses before he even got there

Nick Foles despite his flaws has actually risen to the occasion more than once

Dalton despite being in much better situations has never done anything in fact Dalton is the exact type of mediocrity the Bears have been trying to escape for years .

Dalton started 9 years in Cincy with 5 of those years with a top 10 defense and what does he have to show for it . Hes the epitome of mediocre qb riding a strong defense and running game to nowhere .

What makes things even worse was that in the thread about skill position rankings is that everyone was so upset about where we ranked no one even noticed that the Cowboys was 4th . So Dalton had the 4th best supporting cast and what did he do with it in the worst division perhaps ever ? ?

Andy Daltons numbers aren't really bad with the Cowboys last year. They aren't anything exciting, but Dalton would have never been accused of being somebody that could carry a team. His WR's were good. His rbs and OL were pretty bad. His defense was historically bad.

Both qbs are good backups and not guys you want us your starter. Who really cares which one is better?

Foles played well his first stint with the eagles for Kelly but Kelly didnt draft him,

The Jeff Fishers Rams horrible offense before and after Foles
The Jaguars horrible offense before and after Foles
The Chicago Bears 29th offense before Foles

Foles won a SB in 2017
Foles beat us in the playoffs in 2018

Daltron hasn't even played average since 2016

The only reason Dalton started that long is because the Cincy had a Lovie Smith situation going with Marvin Lewis .

Think about what you are saying with your any backup logic

Chase Daniel would've beat or better yet Glennon or Mitch ?

The Vikings #1 defense
The Falcons #8 defense
The Patriots #5 defense and Brady on his wayu to SB MVP

and followed that up the next year

Bears #1 defense on the road

Im not even arguing Foles is some great qb but Its crazy how you somehow propped up Dalton and gave him credit for doing nothing while simultaneously going out of your way to say Foles didnt accomplish anything or dismissing it to random luck

It is reality.

Foles played for STL, Jax, and Chicago and was terrible in all 3 spots.

In Philly he was really good in 3-4 game runs, but was never asked to play more than that outside of the crazy Chip Kelly year.

Both Foles and Dalton are good culture guys and neither is the starting so who really cares which is traded. Could probably get more for Dalton if an injury comes up to be honest.

In reality all three were terrible offenses BOTTOM 5 before Foles he even arrived . Its amazing the double standard and flip flopping some of you are doing on this .

You will go on and on about how the qb needs all these things to be successful as far as coaching Oline surrounding players but apparently you only do these things with players you like because with player you dont like its #### em you toss all that out the window for a blanket answer

You don't want either Foles of Dalton starting long term. With Dalton, you can at least run an O that Fields can get plugged into and get similar looks from a D to better prepare Justin in case he doesn't start the year. Ds can cheat Foles for his lack of mobility, slow arm motion and inability to throw off platform. Foles is capable in a clean pocket and scheme that spaces WRs where he can throw to a spot and have catchers arrive there 1st. Dalton is capable of all trades but master of none. He fucks up but D's still play him straight. He also won't turtle for a hip pointer.

Trade Dalton- save 2.5 million

Trade Foles-save 12 million

It matters who we trade.

Part of the reason they are bottom 5 is because their QB sucked.

Foles need elite talent around him to even sustain short bursts of being good. He had elite talent in Philly.

Foles is bad. He is a backup level player who caught fire for a couple of short stints

The only reason Nick Foles won Super Bowl MVP was because Wentz got hurt. Nick Foles was a bad back up that beat some good teams while playing for a great team. Why couldn’t other bad backups do the same?

I never once propped up Dalton, just said I would take him because of consistency and playing time. I never said Foles didn’t accomplish anything. I said he was a bad QB who got a lucky stint with a great team.

Bears lost Burton after making a game plan to feature him and also without Jackson. Burton injury was so sudden, you won't find him on injury reports. Jackson would have had some fun with those punts Foles was throwing. Team was VG but not at all deep and we still win that game with a competent kicker.

Foles threw 2 INTs, should have been more and for less yards than Mitch. Foles 78 rating, Mitch, 90. D only got to Foles 1 time. Mitch threw for 300 yds without a pick. Foles didn't win that game. Nagy and our kicker lost it.

I remember watching the game specifically thinking that 2 passes were sure picks if Eddy had been playing and 1 of them was in the red zone. He was so dynamic in 2018 that IMO if he plays the Bears never would’ve had to rely on Parkey. Wasn’t Callahan out as well?

Regardless the D played well that day but Trubs was shit until the 4th quarter.

Come on now, Pace has made plenty of mistakes just like every GM that's ever been a GM has and i've 100% come on here and talked about any mistake i thought he's made. The problem is people just like to overlook any time i say he's made a mistake because i've been one of the few that have had his back his whole time with the Bears and think he's done a ton more good then bad since he's been here.

I really think he just gets cut or as somebody else suggested placed on IR. either way he shouldn’t be taking off the roster spot but we’re not gonna dump his salary . If we were to trade him we would have to package of fifth round pick in exchange for seventh round pick.

So the question is do we want to sacrifice future picks for immediate cap Space? I don’t think so.
My thoughts all along. They will keep him around until that final game in pre-season where just the scrubs play, he will be cut the next day. Bears are paying for that mistake one way or another.

I couldn't give a fuck between the two. That's like asking which do you prefer for dinner, dog shit or cat shit?

Dalton was an average QB 5 years ago that has been a loser for the last 5 seasons. His passer rating the last 3 years has ranked 26,32,25.

Foles is a has been that found lightening in a bottle on a few occasions.
