So we have 2 QBs. Probably somewhat successful in college.

They come to the NFL and suddenly can't figure out how to throw the ball. But then there's more, Trubisky was the consensus #1. Cutler was a former pro-bowler. They also came to the Bears and forgot how to play.
Maybe, just maybe, it's not them, it's us.

And just maybe, as long as the Bears are unwilling to have a complete offense it will never matter who the QB is.
Fields never had to do anything at OSU other than lob the ball up to the 1st round draft pick who was running in a straight line.

Trubisky was not the consensus #1.

Cutler was always an average QB. His pro bowl year he was like 7th alternate in the AFC.

Am I missing something? Did these guys go somewhere else and then do well? Or do the Bears place too much emphasis on flash plays from their QBs and not enough on reading defenses and being consistent with their passes?

I wouldn’t mind one bit if Caleb didn’t play again for these coaches, he is being broken completely before our eyes. He has been destroyed by Washington, Arizona
and New England. What the hell is going to happen to him against the great defenses of the Packers, Vikings, and Lions? If he was sacked 9 times by NE how many will the Packers and Vikings get? Might see n NFL record coming, and how exactly does that help him grow? Fake an injury, something.

Actually I had to look it up, the most times a QB has been sacked in a game is 12. This is definitely within reach in one of these next three games with this QB, coaching staff, and offensive line.

Yea maybe if the QB would get rid of the ball teams wouldnt send all out blitzes on him.

Caleb was somehow the best qb against the blitz in the nfl in a two week span, then the bye happened and him and the OC forgot how to beat a blitz.

Imagine if your generational QB got sacked by Brenden Schooler....that would be like Michael Jordan getting blocked by Jon Crotty.

What? A first round pick is a guarantee of greatness so that makes it bad that the Bears never got Fields anything better than 5th round greatness? God you're a moron.

Did I miss something or did we not just see a QB get sacked 9 times in one game half way through the season?
Oh but the Bears certainly can't have ruined other QBs after years of getting them sacked at those kinds of rates. It was noticeable when it happened to Cutler

You're just proving your stupidity with every post you make.
Cutler had rookie record passer rating, that's for a team that has actually had QBs in their history. Cutler wasn't average until the Bears got him. That was never said about him until the Bears and idiot fans started making their fucking dumb excuses for this hell hole of a team ignoring offense.
You might want to look shit up before opening your dumbass sock puppet mouth and removing all doubt about your idiocy again.

It's not the QBs, it's the Bears.

They will never bench Williams because if the backup quarterback fails every finger on the hand will point directly at them as failures. As long as Williams is in there no matter what they do as coaches they will have Williams as their excuse.

Exactly right. And that is why I wanted it the last couple of games. If it's more of the same, Fire Waldron. If things get much better, let Williams sit and learn. Win/win situation, except as you said, could work against the coaches.

It amazes me how many are giving excuses for Caleb. I'm not one to give up on him, but he needs to temporarily benched if he doesn't get rid of the ball quicker. Tyson Bagent will at minimum demonstrate what it looks like to get rid of the ball quick in the offense. He has played behind the same OLine, yet never took more than 2 sacks in a game. At least if Bagent plays and sucks and/or gets sacked alot we know Caleb is just doomed by the situation he is in. Maybe fans will exert more patience.

I think a big reason everyone is so frustrated is becuase the roster hasn't been this good on paper for a long time. We have a top 10 defense in points allowed, turnovers, and passing yards allowed. We have two receivers who ammassed 1,200+ yards last season, a RB who had 1,200 all purpose yards, and an ascending young TE that had 700 yards last year. Yet, everyone seems to have regressed in this offense.

What if the backup QB actually wins? What if the offense runs much smoother? What if the OLine looks better with quick releases?

Maybe it begins to click in Williams head to speed things up. Living to the next play is fine. Negative sacks are a drive killer. Maybe ut helps him put things together and save the season and therefore the coaches job.

Doing the sane thing iver and over again with the same results just leads to a quicker path to getting fired.

We drafted a QB #1 overall that's supposed to be a generational talent, and we're still having QB controversies?

Welcome to Chicago!

Cutler played 5 games his rookie year....good work with that "rookie record passer rating". Cutler consistently had a mid 80's passer rating in Denver, and pretty much did the same thing in Chicago. Look at his Rate+ stats. He was never terrible, never great. Just always mediocre.

Poles truly underestimated what the impact of trading Justin Fields would have on the locker room.
We shouldn't be surprised at the state of the locker room when you have a GM that rids the team of all it's leaders. Fields was just the last of them, he started out with Quinn, Roquan, and Mack.

Although you can blame the locker room on Flus, Poles did him no favors.

Caleb entering “biggest NFL bust of all time” trajectories. Considering the hype he had…yikes.

They incorrectly took the team sticking together last year as them playing for Eberflus - the team knew what was coming with Caleb and saw how unfair it was to Justin and played hard to finish the season.

As soon as they could they folded on Eberflus.

If they do this, I’m absolutely done. The fact that is even being mildly considered is mind numbing. You’re going to bench a rookie QB 10 games in because the HC and OC are completely incompetent? This would be a new low for the organization.
isn't happening, no way Poles lets them bench his # 1 toy
