They incorrectly took the team sticking together last year as them playing for Eberflus - the team knew what was coming with Caleb and saw how unfair it was to Justin and played hard to finish the season.

As soon as they could they folded on Eberflus.
so much for the chasing greatness schtick

Exactly this!

The team played hard at the end of the season for Justin Fields, not Flus or Poles.

If they do this, I’m absolutely done. The fact that is even being mildly considered is mind numbing. You’re going to bench a rookie QB 10 games in because the HC and OC are completely incompetent? This would be a new low for the organization.
Whoa it turns out a bunch of guys killing themselves for a shot at generational wealth aren’t all hunky dory with the idea of turning a 10-ish win team into a 5-ish win team just so Caleb Williams, who is clearly never going to make it let’s be honest, gets every chance to develop.

If you think these pro football veterans are super thrilled with a rookie spending all offseason talking about how he doesn’t get nervous or how the punter might as well not even dress on game day and then when the season comes he barely throws for a hundred yards against absolutely ass defenses like New England?

They’re sick of it and they don’t care about George’s social agenda, or gEnErAtIoNaL talent, or Caleb’s draft stock. They want to win, be successful and get paid.

to be fair, Fields isn't wowing anyone in Pittsburgh right now either
He did well by leading the Steelers to the #2 seed in the AFC before the starting QB Russel Wilson returned for injury. Justin Fields will be fine in Pittsburgh sitting behind Russel for a season or two, as he also receives proper coaching for the first time in his NFL career.

Pittsburgh can't afford both of them and somebody will see him as their starter next year.

It may not hurt anything but likewise it wouldn't help anything.
There is nothing for the UDFA to teach the #1. If that's what you wanted you keep Fields to teach the rookie (and he could've taught him that the Bears are where QBs come to die).

If you want to teach Williams anything Bagent could show call the freaking game you'd call for Bagent. It's that easy.
Say it with me, 1 2 dump, 1 2 dump, 1 2 dump, dump, dump, dump, 1 2 dump. It's not too hard for the #1 to grasp if that's the only choice he's given in the calls.

You teach rookies with long term proven vets not 2nd year UDFAs.
Yet another MykTake that is aging like a fine wine. Has this fool been "right" about anything so far this season?

If players are asking for a 2nd year UDFA to start in place of this years #1 pick in the draft it is a serious, serious problem. The players are not pinning it all on the coaches. If it was the Bears saying they want him to sit and learn, trying to save him from getting killed with this upcoming schedule, I would kind of understand it. If the players are out on Caleb you know what they think of him.

Not only could he end up being the biggest bust in NFL history, he could be the fastest. 9 games and it has come to this, 3 weeks ago the vibes were very positive. I don’t know what to think, what the fuk is wrong with this disaster of a franchise

So why didn't Justin Fields beat out a washed up Russell Wilson in Pittsburgh with everything being equal for them?

I remember near the 'end' of Justin Fields' time in Chicago, the coaches implied that Justin didn't understand the offense because he wasn't working hard enough. So that whole disconnect with Getsy and Fields was a combo of Getsy's nonsensical offense and Fields not trying to learn it. I think the same thing is probably happening with Caleb. If Caleb actually could run the offense and things weren't working, then perhaps Waldron would have been more apt to change things. But if Caleb isn't putting in the time to understand things, then Waldron is less likely to switch things up on offense.

It's not entirely surprising that the vets would want Bagent at this point. They want to win. They aren't really out of it yet, record-wise. And if the vets feel that Caleb is above working hard and learning, then that is very telling.

lol. Wilson is a top 6 QB statistically speaking since the start of the 2023 season. Washed up indeed.

The offense looks too stupid and complicated. How many QB’s do you see doing what they have williams doing at the line of scrimmage? Every other play he is walking back and forth across the line changing things up. This is a rookie, not Peyton Manning, And all the shit we have heard about Caleb is first in in the morning, last out. Unless that has changed or was bullshit. They put too much on his plate, let’s see if it gets simplified.

When did he beat a healthy Wilson?

Because I checked the stats and it looks like Wilson's starting.
