Wow Brendan Ryan is a badass.

I wish they would allow stuff to be on youtube a bit, I think that would in some ways help drive up the popularity of the game.

They force the viewers to hit MLB.com which is in some ways a good business practice, but I agree that they should be more lenient re: embedding and sharing videos.

He hasn't made an error in 16 games and has only had one in the past 29 games. He also has made the second most out of the zone plays of all SS like last night's web gem.

Yeah, he's played significantly better in the field lately...

Went 0-4 w/ 4k's last night, but, i digress

We'll all have to remember this factoid the next time he makes a bonehead play.

Brain fart, but even Albert Pujols gets those sometimes (even before he became an Angel and lost his magic for a while):

Starlin Castro loses track of number of outs | HardballTalk

The defense has been fine, the focus needs to improve, but they could really have handled this better than just throwing Castro under the bus whether he deserved it or not.

Yeah I am surprised to see Sveum losing it as quickly as this. I mean there was a situation earlier in the year where nothing was done (not running out a groundball). This seemed like frustration boiling over for Sveum more than anything.

He's probably pissed because his team is so shitty.

Its unreasonable to expect a player to be perfect all the time like the Chicago media wants players to be.

Castro's getting better, and honestly this lapse won't cost them a playoff spot. I'm positive Castro is going to win the Cubs more games than lose them this season.

Non-issue to me when Castro has been working on improving his game.

Its when meatheads like Bradley throw bats and coolers around that bother me.

He's getting better all the time.

though I don't think that play was a huge deal, it's still a big :obama:

Honestly, forgetting how many outs IS a big issue. The problem was that the team handled it badly and basically gave the media more fuel for their fire. Sveum should've just brushed it off. Instead of focusing on the fact that Samardzija pitched like crap and the offense barely did anything again, they basically heaped the blame on Castro, and that's extremely unfair no matter how much discipline he deserved for forgetting the outs.

Exactly Sveum is getting very Quade like the best couple of days. Yesterday it was the same press conference comment and I don't know what else to say. Today it was essentially blaming the loss on your most talented young player.

I think having a shitty team weighs on every manager, especially when they have to answer the same stupid questions day in and day out from creatively challenged journalists.

Sveum was a great manager until this IMO, I think it is frustration getting the better of him, something he needs to learn to not have influence his decisions. I still trust that Sveum will be a great manager though.
